K-5 Virtual Learning Experience
Here are some highlights of what to expect for your elementary student’s virtual experience!
Students will participate in daily live, or synchronous Zoom lessons in literacy and math, and weekly live Zoom lessons in science, social studies, art, music and physical education. There will be a combination of whole class, small group and individual live Zoom meetings. Pre-recorded lessons will also be offered to support flexible family schedules, and will always be available for students to review anytime.
Live Zoom lessons will happen on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (schedules are determined by your child’s teachers, students will not be online the entire time). Every Wednesday, all MMSD students will participate in pre-recorded, or asynchronous lessons so that teachers have time for meetings, professional learning and preparation of lessons. Teachers will host daily office hours where they can connect with families and respond to emails.
Classes will be graded. You can check your student’s grades and timely feedback from your child’s teacher in Infinite Campus. Attendance will be taken every day. Students will be considered present by attending synchronous, or live, real-time instruction in Zoom, by completing and submitting an asynchronous, or independent learning task assigned by the teacher in Seesaw, or by communicating with their teacher through phone call, email, text or virtual office hours.
